Word on the street is that lots of new buildings are popping up across the bridge in Mersing town. A new hotel is being built close to Hotel Timotel. Also a couple of shophouses on the right side of the street (coming out of town) are being constructed.

its a shame that everytime I return to Mersing there's new building popping and most of them does not
look well planned. I hope the City council have a long term plan on what the city going to look like 10 years from now. Its getting too crowded with buildings and
not enough space for pedesterians and recreation.
as a tourist town it does not look tourist friendly enough...
Agree with aman...Wondering who is the mastermind who wish to turn this tourist town into tuna town.(I like sardin but not to live in it)

agreed with aman.wondering if the local authority is aware of these comments. will alert them as a local.
i agree with aman. what especially annoys me is that they turned the whole town in a total debacle with the one way streets. talk about town unfriendly!
The one way streets pose a safety hazard to pedestrians since cars and motorcycles speed now, thinking that they have a two lane highway. It's also bad for business since customers have a hard time crossing the street to shops. The city and majlis bandar should look at cities like carmet in the USA, that have chosen slow growth in order to attact tourism and increase city wealth. It sometimes better to be a small rich town, than a poor big city.
whoops i meant Carmel, California or Boulder Colorado.
